The AEON Foil has achieved legendary status within the windsurfing scene. There is no other Foil that has caused such a stir on the World Cup scene. The focus on control, coupled with technological refinements and a new understanding of foil development, has helped riders achieve their best performances.
Diethelm is now transferring this very concept to wing foiling. Of course, expectations are extremely high—will the AEON Foil once again become the quasi-monopoly for those who want maximum performance?
We spoke with insiders at Patrik and were able to uncover some exciting information!
One of the most exciting questions is whether the Wing AEON is fundamentally different in design. The answer to this question is a simple "no." The basis, i.e., the mast, fuselage, and, in part, the front wing technology, is taken directly from windsurfing. However, there are some adjustments.
The masts of the AEON remain identical. Diethelm has created such a masterpiece here that no adjustments to the wings are necessary. The XS masts, which will be even thinner in the future, should be particularly exciting for Wing racers. We expect astronomical prices here, but there will probably be no competition on the market for the time being.
Of course, there will still be Wingfoil titanium and aluminum fuselages. In some places, these will be significantly shorter than the fuselages of windsurfers – as is usual with wings. Here, too, there will be an XS version in the future, which is even thinner but also offers less control.
We were only able to obtain sparse details about the front and back wings. But what we did find out is that the windsurf front wings will be compatible and used in racing and speed wings. There will also be a range of additional wings. Whether for downwinders or other special applications, Patrik will cover the entire spectrum of winging.
We are, of course, extremely excited about everything that is coming. If Patrik can deliver such a resounding success a second time, that would be incredible.
