Description

The IDOL is Duotone's freestyle sail for advanced and experienced riders who compete or train at the highest level of New School freestyle. Built around the BATTEN FREE CENTER concept and the LIGHT DONE RIGHT design philosophy, it saves 200 to 300 g compared to a conventional design without reducing the film thickness of the main panel. The performance is there in every session, not just on the spec sheet.

At the heart of the Idol Freestyle windsurfing sail is the BATTEN FREE CENTER: a deliberately larger gap between the foot batten and the batten above the Boom. This open area changes how the sail builds power. Instead of a sharp, binary on-off sensation, you get a smooth, progressive power build-up that makes duck moves controllable from the very first attempt. The sail becomes neutral exactly when you need it to and recharges cleanly on the way out. For air moves, the CONVEX DACRON LUFF PANEL retains its full elasticity and keeps the sail charged when you need lift against the sail. You maintain control over the move instead of fighting it.

The HOLLOW LOWER LEECH locks in the profile above the Boom and eliminates leech flutter. The iROCKET 2.0 batten tensioners are individually calibrated at the factory using a torque wrench. The 100-micron ULTRA FILM monofilm keeps the weight down. DOUBLE SEAM technology covers all high-impact areas with triple-stitched zigzag seams, and shatter-resistant epoxy battens can withstand whatever competitive riding throws at them.

Available in sizes 3.6 to 5.2 m² on an RDM mast, the AS I also features a FOIL EYELET for hybrid Foil sessions and the complete VTS trim system for fast, precise rigging. 2027 brings a new colorway in black/purple.
