5 FIN BALANCED RIDE NUMBER 5.4 (tri) / 4.9 (quad)
The Mayhem 3.0 is a completely new template. With the trend in modern HP shortboards moving towards more curve under the back foot for critical pocket surfing, we felt the need for the fins to evolve with the rocker of the board. We wanted to add a bit more base, more rake and a narrower tip than our previous thruster template.
The idea with the base and rake is more drag and bite when diving deep into turns and maintaining drive through tight radius turns. The reduced tip area with tapered flex provides more release and freedom for quick transitions in and out of turns when needed. We took these fins to the wave pools for controlled, repeatable testing and also worked with our crew of elite surfers of varying sizes to get feedback and input.
