Introducing the JP Australia Super Lightwind 2026.
No foil needed—you won't find another board that gets you up and gliding as early and as effortlessly as the JP Super Lightwind.
Since its introduction in 2011, it has been virtually unrivalled as one of the few genuine light wind boards on the market. It glides in almost no wind and reaches top speed immediately. At the same time, it is incredibly comfortable, smooth, and super easy to ride for its size.
This is JP's fifth generation of this unique board design, and like its predecessors, it benefits from the shape developments of the slalom and super sport boards as well as the HydroFoil performance boards. This makes it JP's hottest toy for all light wind days, whether you ride the board with a fin or a foil.
You have to try it to believe how much fun you can have in almost no wind. Light wind blasting!
The top priority in Werner Gnigler's design briefing was to combine outstanding early planing with an electrifying feel and a super-uncomplicated ride.
To achieve this, the outline is long. This creates a balanced curve for a smooth and effortless transition from non-planing to planing.
Another effect is that you benefit from a comfortable, parallel stance and the power is transferred evenly from both legs to the edge. For a board of this size, the shape feels small and lively underfoot, yet is much easier to control than previous models. This is definitely one of the highlights of this shape.
How easy it is to ride and how well it can be controlled is also evident when jibing. Not only does the outline ensure good maneuverability, but the thin and smoothly shaped edge—especially at the rear—also allows for perfect posture and comfort in all different footstrap positions, perfect for fins and foils.
The concave deck lowers the pivot point of the mast foot, reduces swing weight, and provides extra control when you're pushing the limits or carving. The sail foot is lower, which naturally closes the gap between the sail and the board. This further increases light wind efficiency.
The hull has a transforming Vee Flow: pronounced at the front, in front of the Baseplate, for a smooth ride and low-friction touchdowns; it flattens out between the straps and opens up again towards the tail. This makes the board ride high and loose and smooths out chop. The transforming V leads to a curved rail line, which makes jibes smoother and helps you come out of the jibe at full speed.
Large cutouts provide the perfect mix of early release and long rail line for control with fins. They make the rails at the tail thinner. This allows you to easily edge the board at high speed and carve through the jibe. When foiling, they also give you extra flex and help load the wings for takeoff.
You don't need a foil to have fun with this board in super light winds. But if you want to try it, JP's foil Tuttle box makes it a real foil weapon. Volume and size not only get you flying super early, but the width also gives you the leverage to control the foil lift when the wind picks up and it gets faster.
