OVERVIEW
The RacsSF (SF = Slalom/Foil) is a very modern take on a hybrid competition sail. Many rides asked for the flexibility to switch from Foil to Fin without changing the sail. So we listened carefully and here comes the most advanced hybrid sail you can possibly find. Originally developed by Patrik Diethelm and Fabio Canella to work on both foil and fin equally well the RaceSF more and more became everybody's favorite for highwind fin slalom and crosswind speed as soon as it gets super windy. This high aspect design is less physical for the rider and with the shorter boom got a better handling in the jibes. Our pure fin slalom sail the Race+ got an advantage in upwind and downwind angles though.
On the foil the RaceSF allows for a controlled flight. With its advanced aerodynamic the sail got a massive topspeed while feeling more alive and loading a bit more than our pure foil sail FoilS2. This can be an advantage for the heavy rider, the more recreational rider and for the use in lighter winds, where a bit more backhand pressure makes pumping and accelleration easier.

CONSTRUCTION
Racing is a "no-compromise" area in Patrik Diethelm's dictionary. Every detail is being optimized with maximum performance in mind.
All the panels inside the sleeve are made by the thickest monofilm available which provides the best stiffness and a locked profile where the main shape is. The main panels are 5 MIL clear monofilm from B7 to B4 and then 4 MIL above that batten. Why always clear? Because this material is few grams lighter than its colored alternative! For the foot panel and a minimalistic area around the clew we kept a good impact resistance 5 MIL red x-ply materials. That are is often stressed when your sail rubs on the deck grip of the ultra-wide racing boards. Along the leech, you find again 5 MIL (closer to the clew) and 4 MIL (closer to the top) clear x-ply to keep the rear edge of the sail stable and aerodynamically clean even in hi-wind choppy conditions. For the mast sleeve, we reduced the amount of PE fabric material (which stretches more and absorbs little amounts of water) and maximized the 2 MIL x/scrim-ply area instead, which is super light but still with the highest number of fibres per sqm. - so this material is perfect to spread the load across the whole sail.
TRIM
Use the recommended mast on fin and play with harder masts or harder tops to maximize the foil performance. The required amount of loose leech is indicated by the color changes on the batten sleeves. Make sure to reach the minimum downhaul settings at all times. The sail will look "ok" with less downhaul but performance and camber rotation will be compromised. The RaceSF has been tested and tuned to work best on PATRIK SDM 100% masts.
PRO TIPS
"This sail is my first choice for PWA highwind slalom racing on the fin. In places like Fuerte and Gran Canaria where it's choppy and brutal the control, handling and speed of the RaceSF are unmatched."
ALEX COUSIN (R&D Team)
"On the fin the RaceSF works best when you're fully powered up. The speed and control on downwind reaches are insane. On the foil the RaceSF can be a good option in lighter winds as it feels more alive than the FoilS2."
MICHELE BECKER (International Team)
