The Liberty Carbon Harness : Will it be the windsurfing product of the year?
The latest and hottest innovation from the windsurf racing world is the Liberty Carbon Harness . Since this year, it has given top iQ foilers and PWA windsurfers a decisive advantage. We are the first store in Germany and the Netherlands to have it in our range and have the honor of importing it and ensuring its availability. This should make the Japanese-originated Harness accessible to the wider market.
What makes Liberty Harness unique?
The Harness is not fundamentally revolutionary. It simply combines the best of two worlds: the seat harness and the Waist Harness.
The advantages of the seat harness are "more power" and "no sliding up from the Harness". In theory, this means you ride faster and have less back pain. In practice, the leg straps often pinch off your "balls" and the very low hook means you lose a lot of control and freedom.
The advantages of the Waist Harness are maximum mobility and great control, as the hook sits higher up. The biggest disadvantage here is the greater strain on the back and the fact that the harness slides up, which puts even more strain on the back and makes it harder to transfer power.
The Liberty Carbon Harness combines the advantages of both Harnesses and minimizes the impact of the disadvantages. The Harness is designed for maximum performance and the compromises are minimal.
Simply put, it is a high-quality Waist Harness, with Carbon reinforcement in the back area. This Waist Harness is complemented by a finely tuned pad that goes halfway over the windsurfer's bottom and keeps the Harness in the best position. The stronger material in the "seat area" eliminates the need for straps around the legs.
Another feature are two extra straps that secure the harness hook. With normal harnesses, the hook always leans towards the boom, causing the straps to loosen and power to be lost. This problem has also been solved, giving you more power at the end and therefore only minimal changes in power transmission during the session. The straps that fix the hook also fix the overlap on the lower part of the harness.
For freeriders, freeracers and racers, the Harness offers hardly any disadvantages. It is only a change because the hook sits a little lower than on the Waist Harness and you therefore have more power. Especially because it holds its position. It can be ridden in different positions, so everyone has to find out for themselves whether they want to ride it very low or a little higher.
The Harness is not suitable for waveriders and freestylers. Even if there are no straps around the legs, freedom of movement is minimally restricted. This doesn't matter for freeriders and freeracers, but it does for turns, jumps and tricks. Like a Waist Harness , the Harness can also slip slightly during a water start.
The Harness is available in our online store Pre-Order and new deliveries from the Far East will be arriving regularly in the future. However, demand is currently much higher than supply, so stay tuned ;-)
