The Liberty Carbon Harness : Will it be the windsurfing product of the year?
The latest and hottest innovation from the windsurf race world is the Liberty Carbon Harness . Since this year it brings a decisive advantage to the top iQ foilers and PWA windsurfers. We are the first store in Germany and the Netherlands to have it in our assortment and have the honor to import it and provide availability. This is to make the Harness , which originated in Japan, accessible to the wider market.
What makes Liberty Harness unique?
Fundamentally revolutionary is not the harness. It simply combines the best of two worlds: the seat and the waist harness.
The advantages of the seat harness are "more power" and "no sliding up from the harness". Thus, in theory, you ride faster and have less back pain. In practice, the leg straps often pinch off the "balls" and because of the very low hook, a lot of control and freedom is lost.
With the waist harness, the advantages are maximum mobility and great control, because the hook sits higher up. The biggest disadvantage here is the greater load on the back and the sliding up of the harness, which puts even more strain on the back and the power is transferred worse.
The Liberty Carbon Harness combines the advantages of both harnesses and minimizes the influence of the disadvantages. The harness is designed for maximum performance and the compromises are minimal.
Simply put, it is a high quality waist harness, with carbon reinforcement in the back area. This waist harness is complemented by a finely tuned pad, which goes half over the buttocks of the windsurfer and holds the harness so in the best position. The stronger material in the "seat area" eliminates the need for straps around the legs.
Another feature are two extra straps that fix the harness hook. With normal harnesses, the hook always tilts in the direction of the boom, whereby the straps loosen and power is lost. This problem has also been solved, giving you more power at the end and therefore minimal change in power transfer during the session. The straps that fix the hook also fix the overlap at the bottom of the harness.
For freeriders, freeracers and racers, the harness offers hardly any disadvantages. It is only a change because the hook sits a little lower than in the waist harness, so you have more power. Especially because it holds its position. It can be ridden in different positions, here everyone must find out for themselves whether you want to ride it very low or a little higher.
For Waver and Freestyler the harness is not suitable. Even though there are no straps around the legs, the freedom of movement is minimally restricted. This does not matter for freeriders and freeracers, but it does for turns, jumps and tricks. The harness can also, like a waist harness at the water start easily slip.
