Description

We present the CLAMCLEAT® Junior Racing Clamp CL230

The lower roller on the Clamcleat® CL230 allows lines to be fed into the cleat from below. Ideal for routing a line through a surface. It can also be rigged directly onto a line for 1:1 or 2:1 leverage.

The CL230 is perfect for through-deck and through-mast applications. The illustrations show its use for Cunningham and kicker trim on an International 14 dinghy. It can also be used to tension sun awnings on yachts and motorboats; the dark gray CL230AN version complements carbon masts visually. The CL824 Riser Pad can be used to raise the CL230 so that the pulley sits above the surface, allowing a round hole to be drilled for the line.

The CL230 can also be mounted directly on a line. For easier release, we recommend using a PT230SSE. A CL834 handle can be mounted for trapeze adjustment with 4–5 mm lines. (A more affordable alternative to the PT230SSE is the PTLINK.)

Installing PT422 & PT23 insulators between the clamp and carbon tubes prevents galvanic corrosion. When combined with hard-anodized clamps, these are virtually invisible. If two insulator pads are mounted under the CL230, the pulley is also raised sufficiently to allow for drilling a round hole in the deck.

If the installation is done “free-hanging,” a PR230SSE Rope Guide makes it much easier to release the line.
A PTLINK also serves this purpose.

The CL253 is an aluminum clamp that can also be mounted on a line.
