Introducing the Patrik 5-Wave sail.

5-SPAN WAVESAIL WITH MAXIMUM HIGH-END CONTROL AND A PLAYFUL FEEL ON THE WAVE.

> 5 battens
> High end
> Soft luff panel
> Normal stretch.

OVERVIEW

The PATRIK 5Wave is our most playful, super-efficient, classic 5-batten wave sail. Developed in Margaret River, Australia, by Diethelm and 3D mastermind Fabio Canella, this sail is the first choice for crossover freestyle/wave and maximum control in big waves and strong winds. The key to the 5Wave's outstanding control and efficiency is its high aspect ratio design. The refined outline, which we have adopted from our 4Wave power wave sail, enables maximum e control at high speeds and easier release duringtop turns and big landings. With a slightly stronger luff curve than other modern wave sails, we have succeeded in achieving ho ver:bg-[#B4DAE8] hover:dark:bg-blue-next-600" _d-id="39741"> Increase tension on the sail body to achieve maximum control and a locked center of effort while reducing mast swing in choppy conditions.

CONSTRUCTION

Whichmaterial to use and where to use it was one of the most important points in the development of our Wave series. Instead of increasing the shape of the panels (which puts additional strain on the seams and limits the range of use), we decided to play with sail materials instead and carefully select the right thickness for each area. From the mast to the clew, we used soft Dacron for the luff panel, then 2 MIL x/scrim-ply for the front/upper section and 4 MIL x/scrim-ply for the base. All panels along the leech are made of thicker 5 MIL x/warp ply. This mix helps the wind blow the sail exactly where you want the power to be and prevents the draft from shifting when conditions get stronger. Compared to the 4-Wave, we have developed a larger area in 5 MIL to improve the performance of our 5-batten wave sail in strong winds.
As a finishing touch, we developed our own Kevlar load distribution lines. They connect the clew, B1 tip, and the two innovative mini battens on the luff panel. The secret to the incredible wind range lies (also) here...
Last but not least, we focused on We are focused on providing you with a sail that is as light as possible, yet still capable of surviving some big wipeouts and lasting for years. That is our true approach to sustainability.

TRIM

The5Wave offers the same extended trim range on the luff and clew as the 4Wave.
First, set your preferred luff to determine the amount of loose leech you like best. Less luff for a freestyle/wave baggy feel and a more open leech for down-the-line sailing and jumping in strong winds. Then use your luff primarily to adjust the desired profile, power, and drive.

PRO TIPS

"The playful feeling of the 5Wave favors lighter riders like me, as this 5-batten sail has less backhand power than our 4Wave. So don't confuse this 5-batten concept with the standard approach of other brands who usually design a 4-batten sideshore sail and a 5-batten onshore wave. It's different here. With our sails, the 4Wave actually has more grind and drive than the 5Wave, which also performs awesome in strong winds. The 4-Wave is perfect in lighter winds and for heavier riders though."
