We present the Point 7 AC-Z 2022.

A comment from Wind Lounge:

The Point 7 AC-Z is a 2 camber sail and in principle an easier to ride variant of the AC-K. Available in the two key colors of Point 7 , this is an intermediate level between freeride and freerace sails.

Now, of course, the question rightly arises as to why you should do without the one camber. After all, all freerace sails have 3 cams. As Point 7 itself states, the sail concept is unique in the windsurfing market. Where we were skeptical at first, our own tests ultimately surprised us very positively. It's funny, because the Profil is not above average depth, but still very pressure point stable. The acceleration is top, the speed is top and the handling is noticeably easier than with the 3 Camber variant. Of course, a race enthusiast has to make sacrifices in the sailing profil. You can't imitate a slalom mast with 2 camber. So it is exactly as stated by Point 7 : a sail for all race beginners. If you have never had contact with a camber sail, you will really have fun on the water with this sail.

So we cannot fully agree with the slogan "without compromise" from Point 7 , that would be utopian. But the windsurf sail comes close, we are convinced. From us there is a clear buy recommendation for everyone who is looking for performance with minimal restrictions in handling! For those who don't want to compromise on speed, the AC-K is exciting. And for those who need the full power, we recommend the Slalom sail! Have fun with further browsing and the product description of Point 7.

Full race performance, but easy to ride like a freeride sail.

The 2 in 1 WITHOUT COMPROMISES.

Unique on the market in its typology.

The most powerful sail on the market with 2 cams.

No-cam mast pocket above boom, race mast pocket below boom.

2 Cambers under the boom.

Simple handling characteristics.

Excellent in a wide range of wind conditions.

Power and improved stability in low and in high winds.

Locked-in feeling that only camber sails provide.

Still gives a light feel comparable only to a camberless sail.

A must for those who have never had a camber sail.

The discovery for all who have since ridden camber sails.

Designed for:
Have you ever dreamed of having a camberless sail with the same performance as a real camber racing sail? Or have you ever dreamed of having a camber sail with the weight of a camberless sail? The AC-Z is both!!! With only 2 lower cams, there identical in construction to the AC-One, like a pure race sail, a wide mast pocket below the boom, but above the boom a pure slalom no-cam sail! It is not a compromise, it is a 2 in 1!

The tests in trade magazines say: Excellent. The best choice of the magazine testers!

What's new:
Each sail size has been further developed with a longer boom length. The advantage of having more power in light winds increases the overall average speed. When a gust comes or when it stops, the new boom length allows to maintain the same rider posture and pressure on the board, increasing comfort and performance.
The new development was a big step forward from the previous version.

Materials

5mil Anti UV- X-ply base sheet to protect against accidents. All our Ply, X-ply and Scrims Monofilms are produced in the USA.

Anti-UV transparent gray window for a 100% anti UV monofilm sail.

X-ply alternating batten pockets for lighter weight and reflex. 7 tubular battens to additionally power the pure slalom profile. Each batten is mounted so that it can be easily replaced.

Wide Dacron mast pocket below the boom for added performance and comfort. 2 Camber for maximum drive with a buttery smooth rotation around the mast.

X-Ply luff track above boom for quick reflex, narrow mast pocket for easy handling and light weight.

4mil Anti UV X-Ply laminate for high reactivity.

Sail areas:
The AC-Z has a deep profile, 2 XXL camber with an incredible camber rotation and a wide mast pocket like a race sail below the boom. This leads to stability, power and drive in light winds.
Above the boom, the mast pocket tapers to a pure no-cam mast pocket. This makes sail retrieval or water launching as easy as with a wave sail. No water can enter the lower wide mast pocket, resulting in no heavy leverage during sail retrieval or water launching.
The sail top has become slightly narrower, which provides more stability in stronger winds. It feels light in handling and closes the top gap (close the top gap) as a true winglet (winglets reduce drag at the end of the sail, reducing drag and increasing propulsion).
The Loose Leach (relaxed leech) is the classic trademark of Point-7. The Loose Leach provides an optimal flow of wind over the entire sail area and all wind forces.
A clew eye, that is a defined position that keeps the leech and the S-shape of the leech over the boom in the optimal tension. The new AC-Z has received a larger cut-out on the clew (cut out) to generate a greater wind range and more speed in strong winds.
An uncompromising slalom outline. The deep foot luff causes you to automatically close the gap between sail and board on your slalom or freerace board (close the gap).

His character:
The AC-Z has a deep profile in the lower part of the sail up to the boom, but above the boom it is consistently flat all the way up. From the under-keel (sail neck) to the boom it has a wide mast pocket like a racing sail, but above that the mast pocket tapers like a camberless sail. 2 cams are placed below the boom just like the setup of our other camber sail lines. The slalom shape below the boom, the sail outline and the relaxed leech (Loose Leach) are also here the classic features of the brand Point-7. Thanks to the wide lower mast pocket, inserting the mast is as easy as with a camber sail, which means that the mast can be pushed right through to the top without any effort. If you tighten the luff a bit (downhaul), then you can easily and quickly fold the 2 cams to the mast, before you finally put through or tighten the luff to the trim position marked in the upper sail area. Then just attach the boom and off you go to heat up on the water. Yeahhh!

On the water:
Yes, it has camber, even if in the gybes you don't feel the two XXL cams rotating under the boom as softly as you only know it from the battens of camberless sails. Yes, it has a wide mast pocket that powers your board like a pure race sail, but you don't notice any of that when you waterstart because the wide mast pocket is just below the boom, not above it. This makes the sail light and without water in the upper part, so it can be water launched as easily as a wave sail. As soon as you close the gap between the luff and the board deck, the AC-Z will deliver full pressure and full propulsion to your board. Only then you will notice again that the sail has a wide mast pocket and camber. The AC-Z will take you to speed dimensions you have never seen before on your GPS. Pimp up my GPS!

On the straight:
When cruising, the power of the wider lower mast pocket and the two cams results in the same propulsion as a classic racing sail. It glides through even in less wind and the windier it gets, the faster it accelerates. You won't notice performance-wise that above the boom it's a sail without camber, and those who have never had camber will discover a new world of acceleration, speed and stability.... and forget that they have a sail with 2 cams in their hands!

When jibing:
Carving the board has never been so cool, because the power at the bottom of the sail holds the board precisely on the edge as if nailed down. When you then shift the sail you do not feel how the camber totally soft rotate to the new side. The XXL Point-7 camber exerts a fast dosed lever on the battens, which allows a smooth and perfectly timed turning of the battens. No rider error is penalized in the process. You'll want to check back at the beach afterwards to see if the big XXL cams are actually in.

When falling:
Don't worry, there is no wide mast pocket above the boom to the masthead that could fill up. Sail retrieval and water launching are as easy as with a wave sail. No water can run into the lower wide mast pocket, and even if it did, there wouldn't be much leverage.

Developed and designed by:
Point-7 Black Team. A team of professional windsurfers and designers who have proven themselves by designing the winning PWA title sails in slalom, wave and freestyle.

Development Objective:
Designed to exclude all the annoying details that a camber sail has, and also such negative details that a camberless sail has. Or in other words: The goal was to create a no-cam sail that has the positive sides of a camber sail, and at the same time is a camber sail that combines all the positive sides of a no-cam sail. So: a pure slalom cam performance paired with the simplicity of a camberless sail. All in one!

The Outline:
An uncompromising slalom outline. The foot luff invites you to close the gap between the foot luff and the board deck on your slalom or freerace board like any race sail (close the gap). The AC-Z has a negative (relaxed) leech (loose leach) for a light feel on the sail hand (back hand on the boom, backhand). This provides extra speed and acceleration. The sail top has become slightly narrower to generate more stability in stronger winds. The right mix of the demanding tasks that the lower and upper half of the sail have to perform.

Rigging:
The AC-Z is easy to rig. Thanks to the wide lower mast pocket, inserting the mast is as easy as with a camber sail, which means that the mast can be pushed straight through to the top without any effort. Then tension the luff about 10 - 15 cm before the final luff tension (downhaul setting). Without attaching the fork, open the camber zippers and push with one hand behind the camber and with the other hand push the camber so that it folds against the mast. This is very easy and goes in a jiffy. Then tighten the luff extrusion to the final trim position marked in the upper sail area. For sail sizes over 6.4 square meters, only SDM masts can be used, while for sail sizes under 5.8 square meters, only SDM masts are provided. Playing a little with clew tension (outhaul increases power (less tension) or increases control (more tension). Put tension in the bottom two battens and the top batten of the sail, but tension the other battens only enough to just remove the wrinkles without putting too much tension in the battens.
