Introducing the JP Australia Magic Move 2026.

Magic Move

Easy-going boards for medium to strong winds, perfect for freeriding and bump & jump blasting. They are super maneuverable, jibe easily, and plane at speed. Ideal for freeriding in strong winds on lakes and at sea.

Now in its third year, the Magic Move series is once again setting new standards in the free-move segment. These boards are aimed at riders looking for a sporty board from 90 to 110 liters for early and easy planing. The dynamic design ensures an exciting riding experience, scores highly in terms of speed and maneuverability, and is the new "Master of the Carve" for sporty, aggressive jibes and playing in small swells. Whether open ocean waves or reefs and coastal waves, this board remains unstoppable. Shaper Werner Gnigler praises the board's versatility and comfort, an opinion shared by many enthusiastic owners: "Planing jibes and effortless planing guaranteed!"

The Magic Move is more than just a small freeride board. It can best be compared to the Freestyle Wave, not to pure freeride boards, which are often larger and designed for light winds or flat water. That's why it stands proudly alongside the Freestyle Wave as its powerful sibling.

The Magic Move supports you when it counts: thanks to its wider tail, you can plane earlier and more easily than on the Freestyle Wave. It stays on the Plane when the wind is unsettled and picks up more speed through planing maneuvers. It is also significantly more maneuverable and feels more comfortable in swell than previous small JP freeride designs.

Werner took the Freestyle Wave as a starting point for development and adjusted a few parameters to achieve the desired improvements.

Shape details

Compared to the Freestyle Wave line, the Magic Moves are slightly longer, wider, and have a significantly wider tail with additional volume. The outline in the middle section remains fairly parallel and offers a large planing surface. Together with the even volume distribution, the shapes are very stable when not planing and get you up on the Plane almost effortlessly, with hardly any pumping required.

A special design feature is the new, refined rail shape: the apex point is raised along the center section towards the nose, which creates the necessary lift. This helps enormously to maintain speed during the jibe and to get out of it quickly.

Step Rail

The rail shape tapers towards the tail and ends in a distinctive step rail. This allows you to use a wider tail with sufficient volume while ensuring grip and stability in tight turns on white water.

The boards have a flat scoop rocker line for early planing and high speed. The pronounced double concave V at the front acts like suspension in choppy conditions. The V is reduced between the foot straps and reinforced again towards the tail. This decouples the rail shape from the center scoop rocker line and achieves the perfect blend of performance and maneuverability.

The Magic Moves offer various footstrap options and a single powerbox fin for the perfect, customizable setup.

The Freestyle Wave Fins a large surface area at the tip, a curved outline, and a gently swept angle. This gives them plenty of drive, secure grip, and excellent maneuverability.

In summary: These boards plane earlier than freestyle wave boards, pick up more speed during jibes, and stay on the Plane even in turns. Compared to freeride boards, they are more versatile, looser, livelier, and simply more fun.
